Bike and Wall

You know how I love photos of textured walls and bikes...it is a scene that I can't walk by without taking a photo...

This may be my last "new" photo to post for awhile...I am having a major crisis with my Drobo. On my birthday (a couple of days ago), my computer said all of my 85,000+ photos are gone. I have almost 3 Terabytes of photos from the past 10 years all on my Drobo, and at this time, I have no access to them. I am fairly certain they are all still on my drive, but I am working with Drobo to find out how to recover all my data. Needless to say, I am majorly stressed about this. I don't know what I will do if I were to lose ALL my photos...it would be a major disaster!!

If and when I do finally get things back to normal, I will need to totally re-think my back-up strategy. I bought the Drobo so that I would feel secure in my back-ups, but didn't count on the Drobo itself to fail....arrrrrrgh!!

If any of you out there are Drobo experts, let me know...I really need to talk to you...

  1. The blue wall probably reflects how you feel right about now, Scotty. The idea of losing all your wonderful pictures - well, it doesn't bear thinking of. Good luck with figuring out your Drobo.

  2. Beautiful blue wall & bike, easy to see why it seduced you.

Sincerely hope there will be a quick fix to your technical issue.

I'm currently using three different large external hard drives, with full backups on each of the PC hard drive, as I would hate to lose all my photos due to one piece of equipment failing...
    Good luck !

  3. This is a worry .... I also have a Drobo and this is also not the first time I have heard of this type of problem with Drobo. I am using my Drobo as a backup system .... all my photos are on a RAID disk in my MacPro.
I will be interested to hear of any suggestions from Drobo and hopefully your successful recovery of the photos.
Keep us informed and Good Luck.

  4. Big boys don´t take backups but they cry a lot :-)

I don´t use Drobo but I have my photos on three different harddrives. Two in my house and a third located at another part of the town.

I really hope that you can recover your huge amount of wonderful photos Scotty.

    Good luck and cheers ;-)

  6. Outstanding photo image. The vivid colours, light and general setting are almost photographically priceless.

I truly, sincerely hope that Drobo can help you recover your image collection. Made me shudder just to read this. I had all my PC and kit and back up's stolen a few years back, and I'm still grieving the loss, so I can only imagine your despair at the moment.

You have my deepest sympathies and best wishes.

  8. Thanks for the support you guys. I am still working on recovering my photos, and will keep you updated on my progress....it sure makes me think differently about my workflow, and is a very scary thing to happen...my horror story is still happening, so it's not over yet.
