I get many emails daily about my photography from people who read/view this blog, friends, friends of friends, and my students...most asking about my "work flow" in Photoshop..."how did you get that shot?"...."how do you get those punchy colors?"...."what did you do in Photoshop to get that look?"....etc.
When people ask what I do in Photoshop, I always write back and share...in the old days of film, photographers would rarely share their secrets. Things have changed with digital photography. These days, many professionals share their secrets, and it has really changed the education in photography and people are taking better photographs because of it.
Writing emails back, and often saying the same thing over and over eats up a lot of time, and I do have a full time job to do...SO, I am thinking of starting a new blog...
My new blog will have an occasional entry...not every day...but will be tutorial in nature...I can, for example, provide my "before" photo and "after" photo (like below), and then explain in detail what I did in Photoshop to get the end result...Or similar to Joe McNally's book, The Moment it Clicks, I can provide details on what I was thinking when I took the photo, and how the photo was taken (camera settings, compositional thoughts, lighting, etc)...
Just an idea...and before I put any time into it, I wanted to ask you folks that check my blog what you think about that idea??
BEFORE PHOTOSHOP...

Hello:)
Wow! I would love a blog like that you think of! There I could learn a lot from you! And one of my dreams will come true;)I would appreciate it if you took the time to do it:)
Yesterday I made a Photoblog;)
Have fun:)
I forgot to say that it's a big different between those two photos. They are both beautiful! But the last is stunning!
Just go ahead Scotty. This is something I will look forward to. Excellent idea :-)
I LOVE to learn more about how photographers get the "end product". Please please please start this new blog for those of us who are newbies!
A HUGE heartfelt YES PLEASE!!
Maybe photoshop should pay you to do this...(wink)
I think that blog would be very useful to all of us out here, that know nothing about photoshop, except we are scared of it. You always have beautiful photographs.
One huge YES!!!
Yes, please! Your images are gorgeous; as a very amateur, recreational photographer, I'd love to learn more about how you do what you do.
Great idea!
A timesaver for you, but also good questions should be shared so that others could learn - from the question and from your answers/explanations.
Yeeeeees Please! Learning it from the master (YOU) will be an honour!
*bowing mode on*
Thank you Shifu!
btw, the after picture is sto stunning. I can not wait for the new blog!
Scotty : Its always nice to share what we know. Go ahead, better still you add interested members to add their 2 cents, then it would make add a lot of variety.
I post process using GIMP which is an open source freeware.
That post processed image is cool
I think a lot of people are looking for tips so it's always worth giving it a try. Photoshop can definitely punch up a photo.
That would be really wonderful to learn tips and trick of photography and photoshop as well. And for people like me, who are novice, would serve a great help :)
Your idea of putting a picture before and after photoshop-ing gives a fair amount of idea for what needs to be done with the picture.
Scotty...
That would be so great! I'm uo for it if you are! :o)
Vicki
The tutorial blog would be marvellous for all of us!!! The idea is very much welcome! Thanks for willing to share your knowledge with all of us here. I look forward to learning the skills to get those beautiful photos as yours!
Great idea Scotty. I love your photos. Good luck with the new ISP. I can't imagine waiting for twenty seven minutes anymore. Pappy
Hey Scotty, I told you in person, but thought I'd add it here as well. I'd love to see how you accomplish what you do with photoshop.
